NY HR Week 2005 Trumps Expectations - Up 32% to 3710 Registered Attendees
HR Executives In Record Numbers Attend HR Conference --
Top Issues Include Outsourcing, Diversity, Benefits & Technology
Milford, CT,
April 20, 2005 NY HR Weeks conference directors today released record
attendee totals for the 2005 NY HR Week held April 12-14, 2005 at the New York
Hilton, making it the nations second largest HR event. Registered attendees
totaled 3,710, with conference attendees numbering 706. The totals represented a 32% increase over
the 2004 totals, and included a record 106 media attendees.
It was truly a
pleasure to participate in NY HR Week 2005, said Susan Oliver, the SVP of HR
at 1,300,000-employee Wal-Mart, who was the Conferences opening day keynote
speaker. Day 2 keynote speaker, Lea Soupata, SVP of HR at 325,000-employee UPS,
said, When I asked for a show of hands of HRO buyers and providers, I was happy
to see more HR practitioners than providers. TecHR World Keynote, Naomi Bloom,
Managing Partner of Bloom & Wallace said, I found my time spent at NY HR
Week to be incredibly valuable and professionally rewarding. Everyone who is
anyone in HR was right thereFeedback from my audience has been very positive
and Im looking forward to next year. Ray Goldberg,
SVP of HR at Lucent Technologies, attending his third-consecutive HRO World,
said, Once again, HRO World was a tremendous learning event for both veteran
HRO users and those just starting. Vice
President and veteran Wall Street analyst Bill Zinsmeister of Piper Jaffray
wrote, "Good showReally thought this years
Presidential Debate was a step above last years, especially with respect to
the lines of questions. Good case studies, also."
NY HR Week 2005
featured six events. The weeks
cornerstone is the HRO World Conference and Exposition, the worlds largest
event exclusively focused on human resources outsourcing. The week also included the HR/NY Solutions
Conference addressing the ever-changing issues that are shaping HR, the Human
Resources Outsourcing Association (HROA) Awards Banquet and General Assembly
Membership Meeting, the HR-XML Consortiums Quarterly Meeting, HR technology
event TecHR World, and the HRO/FAO Executive Summit.
The success of
this years show is reflected not just in the number of attendees weve
attracted, but also in the quality of those attendees, says John Golicz, CEO
of Unicomm, the event producer. The number of senior decision-makers who
attended the show this year is unparalleled, as is the caliber of speakers the
show presented. NY HR Week clearly provides a necessary platform for the
exchange of ideas, educating ourselves and our customers, networking and conducting
business in a challenging, rapidly-evolving HR marketplace.
"We've received great feedback
from our members regarding this year's HR/NY Solutions Conference and our
participation in NY HR Week", said Barry Manus, President of HR/NY, the
largest 100% chapter affiliate of the national Society for Human Resource
Management (SHRM). "Attendees gave us high-marks for our
Keynote featuring Jane Eliott where she discussed her Peabody
Award-winning film focused on the anatomy of prejudice."
NY HR Week
Conference Chairman Jay Whitehead said, In HR, content is king. And the HR
community has voted with its time and money to elect NY HR Week the most
content-rich event of the year.
A record 222 exhibits were
also featured at the event and exhibitors were effusive in their praise for the
event. As a Platinum Sponsor, Aon
utilizes HRO World as an important vehicle to explain how organizations can
transform their HR functions from cost centers to strategic resources, said
Gary Budzinski, President, HRO, Aon Consulting.
Marc Scherr, Vice Chairman of Ultimate Software said, Very strong event
for our business. Sonjay Garg,
President of Infotronic, says, This has been an excellent show for us on two
very key levels. Not only is it an opportunity for us to exhibit and present
our unique services to a very key audience, but as a mid-size company
ourselves, the educational track here provides valuable information to help us
address our internal challenges. As a result of this experience, we have
expanded our exhibit for next year. Geoff Dubiski, Director of Yoh HR
Solutions had this to say, NY HR Week and HRO World provided a unique
opportunity for Yoh HR Solutions to not only interface with HR practitioners,
but also to broaden our potential service offerings through alliances with
other vendor participants.
NY HR Week
conference educational tracks continue to be strong. Standing-room-only crowds
gathered to learn about key issues such as outsourcing, leadership strategies,
employee screening, mitigating workplace violence, employee fraud and theft,
unethical business conduct, workplace diversity and the explosive costs of
healthcare, to name a few.
On a lighter
note, Nick Warnock, from the first TV season of The Apprentice, joined HRO
World for the entire event, which generated excitement and questions about his
on and off the set interview with The Donald.
HRO World is a well-oiled machine, said the former Apprentice, with a
great balance of learning, networking and entertainment.
